It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of an invaluable member of our team at BC Construction Group. Earlier this week, Matt Pietila, our Chief Estimator & Vice President of Pre-Construction, passed away after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Matt was one of the first employees at BC Construction Group; starting his career here as a Superintendent and Project Engineer. Over his 14-year tenure, his intensity, dedication, and commitment to the company’s future propelled him to an executive position at a remarkably young age. His hallmark was a unique blend of determination, soft-spoken leadership, and kindness that touched everyone who had the privilege of working with him. Matt was admired and loved by his team, peers, and leadership here, leaving a legacy that has enriched the lives of all who consider BC Construction Group more than just a workplace. Additionally, Matt was appreciated and respected by the vendor partners who make our work possible.
Matt’s greatest legacy is his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Megan, their four young children, and a large family who will deeply miss him. Over the last week, they gathered, sang, and prayed at the hospital, giving comfort to each other, and to the long list of BC employees who paid their respects to their friend. Matt was a man of deep faith, and he faced his final months with peace and assurance in his place with God. His absence will be profoundly felt by all of us who knew and loved him.
Funeral arrangements are as follows for those wishing to pay their respects. The BCCG office will be closed on Wednesday October 8th from 10:00AM-2:00PM.
