In a strategic collaboration, Behr Process Corporation, a prominent supplier of architectural paint and exterior wood care products, has joined forces with Lindhout Architects and BC Construction Group to embark on an exciting new project. Together, we are constructing a state-of-the-art plant in Heath, Ohio, employing innovative concrete tilt-up technology. This groundbreaking approach promises not only cost savings but also timely completion while adhering to stringent schedule milestones and budget constraints.

The decision to adopt tilt-up construction for the new Behr Paint plant came after careful consideration and analysis. The team evaluated various construction methods, including steel and pre-cast concrete, ultimately determining that tilt-up construction offered the optimal solution. This judicious choice is projected to yield substantial savings of nearly $4 million, equivalent to 10% of the total construction cost. These savings have allowed for expanded project scope, incorporating additional features like the 12,000 square feet Tote Room, Tank Farm containment structures, and an enlarged Mechanical Room.

In addition to the financial benefits, the collaboration between Behr Process Corporation, Lindhout Architects, and BCCG has resulted in further savings and operational enhancements. Through meticulous process design refinement, the team identified opportunities to optimize production procedures, leading to additional cost reductions. Moreover, an upgraded workplace environment obviated the need for a Fire Water tank, generating further savings without compromising safety.

An essential aspect of the Behr Paint Project’s success lies in its commitment to sustainable practices and time-conscious execution. By leveraging the site’s resources effectively, the project team successfully retained all soils on-site, minimizing the need for off-site disposal. Additionally, employing cement stabilization under pavement areas, instead of importing engineered fill, not only preserved approximately $500K in site work expenses but also expedited pre-loading pads, ensuring critical time savings.

Behr Process Corporation’s decision to work with Lindhout Architects and BC Construction Group for their plant construction project showcases their commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. By embracing tilt-up construction technology, the team not only reduces costs significantly but also guarantees adherence to project timelines and cost constraints. The Behr Paint Project sets a new standard for successful collaboration, underscoring the importance of strategic partnerships in achieving remarkable outcomes within the construction industry.

As the project progresses, we eagerly anticipate witnessing the completion of this facility that will undoubtedly reinforce Behr’s industry leadership and make a lasting impact in Heath, Ohio.
