BCCG was selected to design and construct a United States Courthouse that is aesthetically attractive and functional. The new building allots space for the offices of Iowa senators, as well as more general services including the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the South District of Iowa, the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services, and the U.S. Marshals Service for the Southern District of Iowa, among others.

The new courthouse is major upgrade to the current facility and a great enhancement to the Council Bluffs, Iowa community. Located on 4.5 aces, the structure is a single-story, tilt-up concrete building with steel decking, TPO roofing, and ballistic glass. Services provided for the building included architectural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical engineering. In addition, the facility required high security measures, including a camera network, high security gates and fencing, and control center. As the facility includes a detainment area, specific controls and security measures were implemented.

Each tenant in the GSA building has unique needs for their space. BCCG met the challenge of working with many users to satisfy their requirements while completing necessary tenant improvements within the government’s established budget for the project. As the tenant improvements were for separate offices, BCCG’s careful cost tracking was critical to control cost per department to meet government requirements.
